JBJS established the Robert Bucholz Orthopaedic Journal Club Support Program to foster attendance and participation by residents in orthopaedic journal clubs.

Robert Bucholz, MD, former Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, served JBJS as a reviewer for 35 years and as Deputy Editor for Adult Reconstruction and Trauma for 27 years. He ran the orthopaedic journal club in Dallas every month for over 35 years, continuing until the month before his death in 2016.

Journal Club support comes in an amount determined by our program council, and the funds can be used in a variety of ways: providing refreshments or renting a conducive venue, funding a visiting professor (perhaps even a JBJS Deputy Editor or reviewer), creating a virtual library of analytical resources on methodology and statistics, or any other purchase that enhances the journal club experience.
